Vinter-OL 2002 var den 19. olympiske vinterleg og blev arrangeret i Salt Lake City i Utah, USA. Norge blev bedste nation for første gang siden Grenoble i 1968, men først efter at dopingtiltalte tysker Johann Mühlegg blev frataget sine tre guldmedaljer.

From the Navy website: Salt Lake City, UT (Feb. 8, 2002) –– Members of the 1980 Gold Medal U.S. Olympic hockey team stand below the Olympic flame at Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
