Topkapi-paladset
Topkapi-paladset set fra Bosporusstrædet.
Topkapi-paladset er et palads i Istanbul, som fra 1465-1853 var Osman-sultanernes officielle residens i byen. Anlæggelsen af paladset begyndte i 1459. Paladset, der hovedsageligt er bygget i et plan, husede i sin storhedstid op til 4000 mennesker. I 1700-tallet mistede paladset gradvist sin betydning, da sultanerne flyttede til nye paladser langs med Bosporus. I 1924 blev det omdannet til museum.

- The many chimneys on the left side of the photo belong to the Palace Kitchens. At the right end of the complex there's the Mecidiye Kösku, The Grand Kiosk, a late Ottoman era pleasure pavillion from the 19th century, from where there's an unobstructed view towards the Bosphorus Bridge. Down by the water near Gülhane Park the original city wall remains, with the railway lines to the Sirkeci Railway Station on the inside and a major road and a promenade on the outside.
