Lancaster er en by i Lancashire i det nordvestlige England med 52.660 (2021)[1] indbyggere.
Hertugdømmet Lancaster
Byen har huset den kongelige familie Huset Lancaster.
Ved kroningen af Georg 6. af Storbritannien og Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon i 1937 fik Lancaster status som city.
I begrundelsen hedder det, at byen har haft en lang forbindelse med kronen ("long association with the crown"), og at Lancaster er den traditionelle hovedby i Hertugdømmet Lancaster ("the county town of the King's Duchy of Lancaster").
Uddannelse
Desuden rummer byen Lancaster University og University of Cumbria har også en del af campus i Lancaster.
Religion
Der en katolsk domkirke i Lancaster. Den nærmeste anglikanske domkirke ligger i Blackburn.

ARMS: Per fess wavy Argent and Azure a Fess wavy between in chief a Lion passant guardant and in base a Fleur-de-Lys counterchanged.
CREST: On a Wreath of the Colours in front of a Morecombe Bay Fishing Boat sail set proper five Roses in fess Gules barbed and seeded proper.
SUPPORTERS: On either side a Lion guardant Azure that on the dexter gorged with a Collar pendent therefrom by a Ring Or a Grey Stone Castle of three Towers proper that on the sinister gorged with a like Collar pendent therefrom by a like Ring a Railway Engine Wheel proper each resting the interior hind foot on a Garb fesswise the ears inward Or.
