Gymnastik stod på det olympiske program for 28. gang under Sommer-OL 2016 i Rio de Janeiro. Konkurrencerne fandt sted i perioden 6. – 21. august i Arena Olímpica do Rio. Der var tre hovedgrupper: Redskabsgymnastik, rytmisk gymnastik og trampolinspring.[1][2][3]

GOLD represents the natural wealth and beauty of sunlight; GREEN represents hope and agricultural resources; BLACK represents the strength and creativity of the people. The original symbolism, however, was "Hardships there are, but the land is green, and the sun shineth", where BLACK represented the hardships being faced.
