Folly (havekunst)
Folly (plur. follies; dårskaber, "påfund", ofte anvendt som 'garden follies'[1] er et engelsk udtryk der inden for havekunsten bruges om de påfund i form af forskellige former for 'havearkitektur' eller 'installationer' som man placerede rundt om især i de romantiske haveanlæg der udviklede sig med inspiration fra den engelske landskabshave.
Det kunne være templer, pyramider, søjler, steler, obelisker, pavilloner, forskellige slags hytter, fx 'norske', 'schweiziske', kinesiske ('kineserier'), eremitboliger, grotter, ruiner, kanalsystemer, broer, kildevæld, vandfald, udsigtsplatforme, tårne, gravsteder, gravhøje, urner, mindestøtter.

Paxton's Tower (National Trust) is a Neo-Gothic folly / an eyecatcher and banqueting hall / also known as The Nelson Monument / erected by William Paxton in 1806-1809 in honour of Admiral Lord Nelson - killed at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. It is a triangular building with a hexagonal castellated roof. On the ground there are three arches to accommodate carriages , with an upper apartment with stained glass windows showing Lord Nelson and scenes from his life. Its hilltop location provides Spectacular views over the Towy (Tywi) valley. William Paxton (1745-1824) spent the fortune he had made in India building a huge neo-classical house Middleton Hall and laying out a park / the hall was destroyed by fire in 1931 / The " National Botanic Garden of Wales" is built on Paxtons Middleton Estate / Leading to the Tower is Paxton's Tower Lodge ( Landmark Trust ) / an early 19C cottage, built for the Tower’s caretaker / SN 541.190 / 7975
