Australien deltog i Eurovision Song Contest 2015 som en del af fejringen af konkurrencens 60 års jubilæum. EBU meddelte i forbindelse med annonceringen, at deltagelsen ville være en engangsaffære.[1] Af samme grund var landet direkte kvalificeret til finalen. I tilfælde af at Australien vandt Eurovision Song Contest 2015, ville konkurrencen det følgende år blive afholdt i et europæisk land i samarbejde med australsk tv.[1]
EBU har givet Australien lov til at deltage igen ved Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Australien skal deltage i fremtidige semifinaler for at kvalificere sig til finalen. EBU har annonceret, at Australien kan deltage i Eurovisionen indtil 2023.[2]
