Dagens udbrud bestod af fire mand; Karsten Kroon, David Zabriskie, Romain Zingle og Davide Malacarne. Løbet blev præget af et massestyrt som skete 25 km fra mål. Fire ryttere fuldførte ikke og mindst otte ryttere startede ikke på næste etape.
