In June 2010 a new museum opened in Vágur, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. It is located in the Old School (Gamli Skúli) on Vágsvegur 101, in the same building as the Ruth Smith Art Museum. Vágs Sóknar Bygdasavn got a present from a man, Poul Niclassen, a retired captain. He had built a model of all the nine wooden ships from Vágur, which went missing during World War II. Some of the ships went missing with all the men on board and in some of the ships the men got rescued. The museum has these 9 ship models, you can see three of them on this photo, and a few more items, i.e. a bench which is made by the wood of the ship wreack of one of these nine ships, which went shipwreack in Hafnafjørður in Iceland. There are also photos in the museum.
