Original description: USS Carl Vinson on patrol in the Pacific 06/10/2003 SATTAHIP, Thailand -- Members of the Royal Thai Navy join sailors and officers from the U.S. Navy Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) task group during the opening ceremony. CARAT, a regularly scheduled series of bilateral military training exercises between the U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps team and counterparts from several Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, is designed to enhance interoperability between the participating nations.
