The explosion of a spar torpedo on September 30, 1878 in Copenhagen killed a man and caused some damage to early Danish torpedo boats. The incident was featured in the October 6 issue of the weekly Illustreret Tidende of Copenhagen. The boat to the right of the explosion is Dampchalup Nr. 5.
