beskrivelse:
The water gate - Worcester Cathedral Proving access to the precinct of Worcester Cathedral from the river, the water gate was built in 1378 by Brother William Power. Prior to the construction of Diglis Lock and Kleve Walk access to the water would have been via a flight of steps. The entrance to the water gate would have flooded twice a day, allowing boats to reach the gate. This is the only surviving gateway in the mediaeval city defences and an integral part of the cathedral precinct wall. The decorative gates are modern.
