Sycamore Shoals on the Watauga River in Elizabethton, Tennessee, USA.
- This stretch of the river is located along the Mountain River Trail (maintained by Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site).
- The photo was taken from the middle of the river, which can be fairly easily rock-hopped and waded across. The heavily-forested land on the left is the little island that appears on topographical maps opposite the state park lands.
