Petersfriedhof has probably existed since around 700 AD. The crypt arcades were built in the 17th century. The so-called catacombs are located in the rock face above the cemetery. However, they were never used as a burial place but served as early Christian meeting places. The catacombs consist of the Communegruft, the Gertraudenkapelle and the Maximuskapelle
