beskrivelse:
Pál Joensen is a Faroese swimmer. He comes from a small village called Vágur (it means Bay), with a population of 1350. The island has only 4700 inhabitants, and all of the Faroe Islands have a population of 50.000. And yet, he can now call himself the third best swimmer in 1500 m freestyle on short course. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Istanbul. It was the best Faroese sport result ever. Pál Joensen lived in his hometown in the Faroe Islands until August 2012, he moved to Copenhagen in Denmark just after competing at the Olympic Games 2012 in London. At the Olympics he competed for Denmark, because the Faroe Islands is not an independent nation, but a self-governing part of Denmark. Even if he now lives in Denmark, he continues to swim for the Faroe Islands at all international competitions except for the Olympics.
