A very similiar picture is found in the 2012 bestselling book "The World Until Yesterday" by Jared Diamond (ISBN: 978-0-713-99-898-6, plate 13). Jared described a continuous warfare of the tribes in the region, resulting in a high mortality. The man here is climbing up a watchtower.
