Elliðaey is one of the Westman Islands, and the third largest island in Iceland having an area of 0,45 km². It is believed to have formed in an eruption about 5-6 thousand years ago. The island is uninhabited, but there is a hunting lodge, as you can see in the image, constructed in 1953. The island is still privately owned and operated by the Elliðaey Hunting Association and is accessible via a rope on its lower east side and by a boat from the mainland.
