Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy ( Bengali: হোসেন শহীদ সোহ্‌রাওয়ার্দী; 8 September 1892 – 5 December 1963) is a Bengali Leader statesman who served as the last Prime Minister of Bengal presidency.

Huseyn Suhrawardy was born in Midnapore, Bengal His father, Justice Sir Zahid Suhrawardy, was a jurist at the Calcutta High Court;

After his matriculation from the Calcutta Madrassa, he attend Calcutta University completed BSc in Mathematics in 1911 . in 1920 he completed MA in political science From Oxford University . Later he join the Gray's Inn where he was trained as barrister-at-Law from 1922–23.

After his training as the Barrister-at-Law in England, Suhrawardy returned to Bengal Presidency .In 1924–25, Suhrawardy was appointed as deputy mayor of the Calcutta Corporation when he joined the Swaraj Party led by the Mayor of Kolkata Chittaranjan Das .

In 1945 he was elected as a Prime minister of Bengal . During 1947 Cabinet Mission of British Raj , Suhrawardy forwarded the idea of independent Bengal . The proposal was floated as an alternative to the partition of Bengal on communal lines. The initiative failed owing to British diplomacy and communal conflict between Muslims and Hindus that eventually led to the second partition of Bengal.

Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy is considerate as the visionary of a Independent nation state of Bengal . Later his political follower Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh .
