Based on HMS Protector the Royal Navy ice patrol survey ship, observers carried out inspections in accordance with Article VII(1) of the Antarctic Treaty. The observers recorded facts and gave recommendations to each base regarding personnel training, scientific activities, logistics and infrastructure, transport and communication, safety training and emergency procedures, environmental management, medical and tourism.
