The De Ruyter in its fourth incarnation, as a broadside armoured battery. Laid down in 1831 as a 74-gun ship of the line, launched 1853 as a 54-gun sailing frigate, then rebuilt as a steam frigate and at last as the ironclad depicted in the model.
