beskrivelse:
This work was part of a collection of five history paintings by Lorentzen, auctioned in the same lot. There was both an old German goddess named Nerthus/Hertha and a Danish warrior queen named Hetha/Hed. This painting depicts the warrior queen, who (according to Saxo Grammaticus) ruled Zealand for a time. The valley of Hertha was a name given by early historians to the small valley Ærtedalen near Lejre on Zealand. The painting shows her prisoners being led into the valley.
