Burgess Meredith urging for a permanent Federal Bureau of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C. on February 28, 1938. A militant campaign will shortly be waged for creation of a permanent Federal Bureau of Fine Arts, Meredith, acting President of Actors Equity, today told the Senate Education and Labor Subcommittee. Actors, producers, and artists have urged the committee to aid the "preservation and development of American Culture" by reporting favorably to create such a bureau.
