Brandur Sandoy is the current (2011) mayor of Sandur Municipality, which is the biggest municipality of the island Sandoy in the Faroe Islands. He has been a member of the town council of Sandur since 1 January 2009 and mayor since 27 October 2009. In 2011 it was announced that he would run for the Faroese parliament (Løgtingið) for the election of 2012 for Fólkaflokkurin (People's Party). He was not elected directly, but because the People's Party became part of the Faroese government and got three ministers, the three ministers took leave from the Løgting and Brandur Sandoy and two others took seat in the parliament.
