AWM caption : Egypt, Frontier, Hill 70 (Romani). View of the camp at Hill 70, between Deiran and Kantara, which was used in turn by the Australian Light Horse Brigade when holding the Romani front, prior to the battle in August 1916. The canvas shelters, behind the front row of tents and to the right, were erected to protect the horses from the burning sun. Note the barbed wire entanglement in the foreground.
