Armenian taraz (national costume) of Gavash.

An indispensable part of the costume of Western Armenians was the apron – gognots, embroidered with braids and with a knitted, narrow or woven belt. They usually embroidered the words on the belt: "for good health" and "to smb’s joy".

The aprons, included in the bride’s wedding dress, were especially beautiful. They were made of cotton or of the expensive velvet, embroidered with gold thread or woven with fine carpet techniques.
